Electric-powered Container Ship

China is the world’s biggest electric-vehicle market and it was manufactured first electric-powered container ship by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Ltd. The ship will be used to transport coal to a local power plant, being able to carry 2314 tons of coal. It is expected to be used next year for its commercial use.

The cargo ship weighs 2,204 tons is 70 meters long and 14 meters wide. The ship contains 1,000 lithium batteries, allowing for a 2,400 kilowatt-hour use, and can travel for 80 kilometers before needing to be recharged.

With electric-ships having the potential to lower the pollution and many countries are interested in similar transportation.
