This Halloween is your chance to meet the ghosts of one of Nottingham’s oldest pubs in a seriously creepy overnight ghost hunt.
Ye Olde Salutation Inn on Hounds Gate will be the sight of a spooky paranormal investigation on October 31 where medium Neil Cook, from Showcase TV and GSI Paranormal, will be attempting to contact the other side.
The pub, which is thought to have first been built as far back as 1240, has long been rumoured to be one of Nottingham’s most haunted locations with many customers and staff alleging to have experienced paranormal phenomena within its walls and within the caves below.
A ghostly highwayman is said to have been seen drinking at the ground floor bar, while others have claimed that a dark entity has been felt in the upstairs attic. A former landlord known only as ‘John’ is also believed to still be haunting the pub after some have said they’ve spotted his ghost inside the walls and in the caves below, where stones have been mysteriously thrown around.
One of the spookiest phenomena is the alleged sighting of a ghost of a young girl named Rosie, who’s thought to be no older than five, and was a Victorian street urchin on Hounds Gate. It’s rumoured that the little girl was murdered inside the pub and then buried within the cave walls. The tale is so believed that some staff members put out dolls, flowers and toys for her.
On the night of the ghost hunt, which will begin at 9pm on Halloween until 3am on November 1, attendees will take part in a number of paranormal investigations using professional ghost hunting equipment as well as participating in vigils to get in contact with the other side.
A buffet and refreshments will be provided in the ticket price and the event is for 18s and over only. Tickets are priced at £35 and are available from brookesparanormal.co.uk.
