A ghost is caught on camera at a pub séance

PUB-goers got more than they bargained for when a ‘ghost’ was photographed at their séance evening.

Amanda Scarisbrick and her partner, Dave Gosling said their local, the Bridge Inn in Port Sunlight, Merseyside, was “renowned for ghost sightings”.

So they attended a séance there and it was then that they had their bone-chilling encounter.

Ms Scarisbrick, 37, said: “As we arrived the landlord, Maria, said to take photos as there could be orbs.

“So my partner just took photos. I was sitting next to him as he was taking them and I didn’t see anything.

“We didn’t notice the black figures until he we got home that night and looked at the photos.”

In one photo, a dark presence can be seen at the back of the room, as if watching the séance unfold.

Some have suggested that this figure is just a shadow on the curtain, but others have noted that it is also reflected in a mirror on the wall, where it appears to be standing apart from the curtain.

“The figure behind the lady in the red jacket looks too solid to be just a shadow,” said Amanda.

“The room had a few lights on, but also had candles in the middle of the table.

“There were only eight people on the ghost tour so we don’t think it would have been some kind of elaborate trick.”

Amanda said she was keeping an open mind about what the presence was, but admits it gave her the chills.

“We were very spooked by it,” she said. “We went round to my mum’s and showed her, my dad and my brother, and discussed it until about 1am.

“I would have preferred not to have caught this on camera because didn’t sleep properly for a while after.”

Séances have been popular since the Spiritualist religious movement was founded in the mid 1800s, with First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln famously holding them in the White House.
